In 2002, founder Mark Walker recognized the demand to create a company that was aimed at the needs of the new sophisticated traveler looking for a unique vacation experience.

Forming a partnership with Byron Breau in the winter of 2004, together incorporating Canadian Vacation Homes Ltd. and American Vacation Homes Corp. (with websites Sandcastle Accommodations, Okanagan Vacation Home Rentals, OK Chalets and Mountain Accommodations). The company has grown from one employee and 12 vacation properties in 2003, to 13 full time employees and more than 7500 vacation homes and resorts in 2008. OK Chalets represents premium ski chalets, resorts and boutique hotels throughout Canada, including Whistler Blackcomb, Big White, Fernie and Sun Peaks.
